for Tai Chi Chuan
Tai Chi Chuan is a study that helps practitioners focus inside and find the peace, expansiveness, and energy that are essential to our human nature. Tai Chi is practiced standing up, and is suitable for almost any health condition (those with significant hip or leg issues or other major health issues can check with the instructor at 718-229-2609).
There are a number of other aspects to Tai Chi Chuan that should be mentioned: better balance, less anxiety, and a feeling of well-being.
In the class, we will start with the movements that begin the short form, and will be able to integrate the students’ internal awareness with movement, so that the student feels greater control over their state of mind, and feels less pressure from the outside.
The teacher, David Alexander, has practiced Tai Chi Chuan since 1978, and has taught since 1995. He received his teaching certification and advanced diploma from the prestigious Grandmaster William C.C. Chen. More can be read at his Tai Chi Chuan website.
The teaching approach employed fosters simultaneous health benefits, improved mind / body harmony, stress reduction, and the foundation of sports and martial art skills. This is achieved through Tai Chi Chuan instruction focused on internal connection, self-awareness, body mechanics, and energy movement
